Masturbation While in a Relationship

Masturbation- It's something that many of us do on a semi-frequent basis, but often feel uncomfortable to discuss with partners, friends, or others. A 2016 survey of 1,200 Americans conducted by TENGA found that approx. 95% of men and 81% of women have masturbated at some point in their lifetime. The survey also found that individuals in a relationship masturbate an average of 10x per month. A 2013 survey of approx. 1,000 men found that 87% have masturbated at least once in the last 3 months. The above data shows that masturbation while in a relationship is not uncommon.

Why do people masturbate while in a relationship?

There are many reasons. Some may masturbate as a quick form of release when they are in the mood to unwind, but not in the mood for full sexual contact with their partner. Others may masturbate if their partner is not in the mood for sex.

Is it cause for concern?

Masturbation while in a relationship should not be cause for concern unless you or your partner is frequently denying sexual contact for solo masturbation.
